Lucky Space Monkey

Sarah Chase is the owner and principle designer of Lucky Space Monkey "I have been sewing since I was 8 years old. Besides loving to sew I am also a painter. Many of the images on the t-shirts are taken from my paintings." In my paintings space is defined by air or water. When I look at the clouds and the sky I try to imagine how deep the space inside our body is and that our body is an oddly shaped box for moving this vast space around. When I paint I think about containers, vessels, and vehicles. Art is a record of our culture. By accident I stumbled onto a book about the history of the circus and I was fascinated that through their travels the circus brought exotic animals to the semi rural communities of the past. I am particularly drawn to monkeys and the various tricks they perform. I want to paint paintings that tell you a story and a secret.
